After the earth quake visitor’s arrival in Nepal reached 753,200 in 2016; that is what the statistic says. Most are Chinese, Indian US and UK.  However their presence was not much felt on the street and the hotels room occupancy. Nevertheless it indicated tourist confidence in Nepal has returned. This is a positive sign. Investment in tourism sector is on the rise. Airlines are not complaining, rather they are in the mood to increase frequency of their flights to and from Nepal. Nepal Airline just signed deal to buy two wide body air craft for long haul destination which is going to be delivered by 2018; this will definitely make travel to Nepal cheaper. World Travel and Tourism Council says tourism brought in Rs 48.6 billion foreign exchange which is 17.7 percent of total export in 2016.  Tourism impact on national economy is growing annually despite the natural disasters. Tourism account 7.5 percent of Nepal GDP and the council forecast it is bound to rise 4.3 percent annually. The news headline in Government run daily said now there are 19 expedition teams with 152 climbers and 1000 helpers and trekkers at the base camp of Everest. Spring is considered best season to climb mountain.  All these are positive economic indicator.

So, now is the time to list Nepal in your ‘Must Visit List. Of course Mt. Everest, the highest peak in the world, is definitely an attraction for leisure as well as active travelers. But this is not all. It has abundant cultural heritage. Natural beauty with magnificent Himalayan range, swift flowing river fed by glaciers and jungle with wild life like rhino and tiger that you could hardly find in many places in the world are all in Nepal. Diversity of people and their ethnicity and culture are other attraction that has always attracted visitors from all around the world. If you want something extensive - new activities, un- trodden paths and high adventure, then travel further east and west of central Nepal. Ninety percent of the present tours are in central Nepal around the triangle – Kathmandu, Pokhara and Chitwan. However, best and authentic tours and un-spoilt touristic destination are further away from the triangle. These are perfect place for incentive tours and community based tour program.
Around Chitwan National Park mostly in Sauraha, tourist hub in Chitwan, has numerous hotels catering all service ranges. There are 20 hotels that are listed as safari. There are no hotels or facilities inside the national park as the government has not permitted to build or run any since 2010. Simple reason is the activities of the hotel disturbed the natural environment. Jungel activities like jeep ride, boat ride, and elephant safari are conducted to enter the jungle for sightseeing purpose only. So, most up market hotel that are being built are bit of resort style with swimming pool than temporary lodge built for Jungle safari.
Glacial fed rivers are another area popular for river rafting. It is also very popular with Nepalese. The charm of the river is exciting experience to shoot the fast flowing river in the sturdy inflated rubber boat. Whether you shoot rapids or enjoy a float it is soothing to get out in the nature and get its thrill.  For hard core enthusiast white water sections are definite choice. Most popular are Trishuli and Bhote Kosi River. Trishuli is popular because of its proximity to Chitwan and Pokhara. Sun Koshi River is popular with long haul and high adventure rafting. Though there are rafting further east and west, however the travel distance and logistics make them less attractive.  River rafting trips are safe and enjoyable however you cannot negate the danger in any adventure trips
Nepal is also synonymous to trekking. Image of high-mountain and Himalayan snow range automatically flashes when we talk about Nepal. Trekking in the mountain started in 1970s as an off-shoot of climbing. Everest and Annapurna area became very popular because of the famous climbers who made first summit of the highest peaks in both the area. Now because of convenience of flights and road both areas are equally popular for short hikes. Many of the long treks have become shorter. Foot hills of Annapurna from Pokhara and the ridges around Kathmandu valley has been attracting visitors who like to stretch their legs in combination with sightseeing tours and other short adventure activities.
Some of the adventure activities, beside river rafting, that are finding enthusiastic participants are Day hike on mountain ridge, Ultra light Flight, Paragliding, Canyon Swing, Bungee Jump, and Mountain Bike - around Kathmandu valley. All these are day trip.  Beside the activities you need to travel to the place where the activities takes place. In these activities you don’t need to participate as a group. You can take the trip individually. Just note these activities takes place at different location.
Since the beginning of tourist arrival in Kathmandu sightseeing tours of the three cities in Kathmandu valley has been popular. It is must program in all tourist itinerary. The core centers of the Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur has cultural heritage amidst the people who have been living there for centuries. Visitors agree that they are open museums. Tourist with more leisure time in hand tread further outside the city to see life in Bungamati, temple at Pharping and historical site at Kirtipur. Baudha stupa in Baudhanath and a secret temple of Shiva at Pasupatinath and famous temple of Swambhunath situated  on a hill top, very well known as monkey temple, are popular tourist’s site that has historical and religious significance in the society that believes in reincarnation and has faith in any kind of Gods. To view Himalayan range Nagarkot and Dhulikhel are favorite spots to stay overnight for sunrise and sunset view over the Himalaya. To get closer to Mt. Everest join a mountain flights conducted in a fixed wing aircraft. If you want to get much closer and into the high Himalayan valley then helicopter flight is the best option.
Most of the time some sorts of festivals are always happening except in wet monsoon season - July to August.  In dry season calendar are full of events including marriage ceremonies and local festivities. Major festivals that attract tourists are Teji festival in Lo-Manthang (Mustang) in May and Saga Dawa in Mt. Kailash (Tibet) in June, both are in the mountain area. see festival calendar.
